Today we are just going to stay at the resort and relax. Breakfast. Richard makes omelets with ham and green pepper. Tomato slices on top, coffee, toast. It was really yummy and a great way to start the day! And on the fridge is a picture of our lovely daughters and their husbands that I brought along with me!

Our daughters and their husbands are here with us in SXM! |
The day is sunny, warm, with a bit of a breeze. Richard has to re-inflate my float. I put my float to good use in the water. We relax on our loungers. We spend a few hours doing nothing but having a nice time at our beach.

After a while we decide we need to check out the pool which we really haven't done yet. The pool is nice. There's only a few people here. I enjoy the jacuzzi part of the pool. It's relaxing. Richard doesn't want to get his swim trunks completely wet so he wades around in the pool! There's loungers here that we use.

The pool is located way up high where you can see the fencing by the trees

Since we didn't do our covid test yesterday we have to do it today. We are going to Anguilla tomorrow and a negative covid test within 2 days is required. My dinner reservation is for 6:00 pm but the nurse is only here from 6:00-6:30 pm for the tests. The restaurant is all the way in the Simpson Bay area. Options-We can go earlier for dinner, go later for dinner, or go somewhere else for dinner. Per the information I have the restaurant is supposed to open at 4:00 pm. If we go early we can get back to our resort in time to get our covid tests. So we decide to go early. We arrive at IZI just around 4:00 pm. There's a sign that says open but the time n the sign says 5:00 pm! That won't work. I go to the door and a guy confirms not open until 5:00 pm. We have to drive back to our resort. I cancel our reservation. We get our covid tests done. Both negative. Cost 90€/$95.35 USD for the both of us. Use my VISA credit card. Now what. We decide to drive back to IZI. I call and make a new reservation for tonight at 7:00 pm.

IZI. Even though it's starting to get dark Richard does fine getting us back to the restaurant. The guy remembers me from earlier. Seated at a comfortable, roomy booth. Lighting pinkish shows in some of the pictures! Drinks-Richard gets a Bloody Mary that he enjoys while I was going to go with just water until I spot..........chocolate martini! Yummy, yummy! We get a platter of several pieces of thin, crunchy bread with dipping oil and black olive dip. Tasty. Bread basket was just 2 warm rolls. I've read great reviews about the chicken parmesan here so that's what I'm getting. Pollo alla parmigiana baked in tomato sauce with parmesan, mozzarella cheese and served with fettuccine with tomato sauce. Richard orders the rigatoni campagnola-tomato sauce, garlic, spicy Italian sausage, and black olives. When the plates are brought to us it's Mama Mia!! The portions are huge, huge, huge. All the food was delicious and that chicken-perfect. This is the only time we take leftovers back to our place with us! At another table it appears as tough one guy in the party may be celebrating a birthday? We sing and clap along with others. We do this so we can have dessert. I get the tiramisu della mamma-Italian style lady fingers, coffee, mascarpone, amaretto, and coco. Amazing. Loved every bite. Richard gets a scoop of chocolate gelato which he says is just right. Complimentary limoncello shots. Richard doesn't like the taste so I finish his. When the bill arrives I'm a bit confused as there is a service charge added. Back home we think a S/C as a tip to make sure a tip is given. I ask the guy and he tells me that the S/C of $10.90 USD is for the workers in the back?? Not a tip. The food and drink total was $72.70 USD. Still confused I nevertheless add a tip of $12.00 USD to the credit card bringing the total to $95.60 USD. So to be clear that's $22.90 USD tip for the server and those in the back?? Like around 30%. I don't honestly think I'd return here or if I did I would only leave half of what I added $6.00 instead of $12.00. Something just doesn't sit right with me.

I was worried about getting back to our place driving in the dark but we, or rather Richard, did great. It took us around 40 minutes to go from the restaurant to our place. Tomorrow is a super big day. We're going to Anguilla. We stop at reception where I leave one of our wet beach towels and get a dry one. I make arrangements for a taxi to pick us up at 7:30 am to take us to Marigot tomorrow where we'll catch the ferry to Anguilla. We'll have breakfast in Marigot. We pack up all our gear our mesh bag-towels, sunscreen, water shoes, dive booties, rash guard shirts. In my back pack I make sure we have our passports, vaccination cards, negative covid test paperwork, money, credit card, iPhone, cameras-UW and point & shoot. My notebook and pen. Off to try to get a good night's sleep with the alarm set for 6:30 am!
